About Demetrick Pennie

A sergeant of police in Dallas, Texas, Demetrick Pennie has spent nearly 20 years with the Dallas Police Department. In his leadership position, he remains accountable to the Chief of Police and is responsible for the direct supervision of operations, personnel performance, and code of conduct for all assigned under his command. Previously, between 1995 and 1999, Demetrick Pennie served as an artillery specialist with the United States Army and received a number of medals and accolades, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation and Achievement Medals, and an Air Assault Badge distinguishing his expertise in military service.

Demetrick Pennie holds a doctor of higher education from Texas Tech University and a masters in counseling from Prairie View A&M University. He has also taught as a college professor for many years, specializing in Ethics, Cultural Diversity, Criminal Law & Justice and Terrorism. Outside of his work with the Dallas Police Department, he engages with a number of professional and community organizations. In addition to his role as the president of the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, he serves as executive director of the Texas Fallen Officer Foundation.
